Matjaz studied English language and culture and took several translation courses during his Master’s degree. Yet above all else he attributes his English language skills to his love of film. Endless hours listening to true crime podcasts on long weekend walks in and around Amsterdam have probably played their part too.

With his sharp eye for detail and a keen sensitivity to our customers’ aims and their readers’ expectations, Matjaz monitors the quality of Taalcentrum-VU’s translations into English and Dutch. It’s a pivotal role in which he gets to cast a critical eye over a wide variety of texts on a daily basis. From scientific publications to cultural copy for galleries and museums, there’s always something new to learn.
