Program
About the course
- The course consists of eight 2.5-hour sessions. The main aim of the course is to develop the participant’s level of oral proficiency in order to give clear lectures and tutorials in English. The course enables students to improve their verbal skills in English, particularly those relating to academic oral presentation. These include expressions that signal the structure of presentations, the language of graphs and statistics, and question and answer techniques. The following areas were also addressed: the principal techniques of oral presentation in English, material selection and organization, use of visual aids, effective body language, building speaker-audience rapport and active student involvement. There is an additional focus on current pedagogic best practice and analysis of new educational technologies.
